CTIA SUPER MOBILITY WEEK, LAS VEGAS USA: Market demand for higher capacity Carrier Ethernet connectivity to services such as high-definition video surveillance, cloud computing, mobile backhaul and data backup/disaster recovery continues to shape the global WAN infrastructure.
According to Vertical Systems Group, Carrier Ethernet business-class service bandwidth is expected to surpass 75 percent of total global business bandwidth by 2017. Service providers increasingly rely on MPLS-TP to connect Carrier Ethernet access networks to existing IP/MPLS core networks for delivery of business-class MEF CE 2.0 services.
To support this mounting service provider need, Vitesse Semiconductor announced availability of an MPLS-TP protocol software module for its CEServices software.
Combined with the industry’s only service-aware architecture (ViSAA), exclusively available in Vitesse’s Carrier Ethernet switch engines, CEServices provides a complete turnkey solution for Carrier Ethernet access network equipment.
Access equipment based on MPLS-TP can deliver capabilities such as enhanced protection and connection-oriented packet switching, ideal for the ongoing transition from TDM to packet-based backhaul infrastructure.
