IP&TV World Forum 2012, LONDON, UK: Agama Technologies, the DTV quality assurance expert, announced that Finnish IPTV operator Maxisat has selected an Agama quality assurance solution for automated QoE and QoS monitoring and testing of over-the-top video services. Supporting linear, VOD and event delivery models, the deployment will help Maxisat assuring the quality of its nationwide HLS based OTT service to connected TVs.
"The decision to invest in a quality monitoring solution from Agama was easy," says J-P Hela-Aro, development manager at Maxisat. "As a provider of high-quality TV services, it is of strategic importance to provide the best transparency for our organization and enable them to act quickly in case of a detected problem. For our pioneering nationwide OTT service to connected Samsung TV sets, we found a perfect match in Agama's solution and know-how. It will support us in ensuring the service is available 24/7 with reliable quality to all our customers."
The selected solution leverages Agama's commercially proven state-of-the-art analysis engine to perform powerful QoE and QoS monitoring of OTT services, and it supports multiple adaptive bitrate formats, including both Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) and Microsoft Silverlight Smooth Streaming. It provides top-level alarms, dashboard widgets and service status overviews, as well as drill-down features with detailed metrics and extensive event logs down to each individual session, all to create awareness and understanding of problems and their impact on the end customers' TV experience.
"We see a high market interest in our OTT monitoring product line, and we are proud to be selected to provide a solution for Maxisat to ensure their new service," says Mikael Dahlgren, CEO at Agama Technologies. "The number of services on the market utilizing adaptive bitrate technologies is rapidly growing; both as new OTT service offerings and as multiscreen and 'TV Everywhere' additions to existing services. Agama's DTV Monitoring Solution provides the perfect match for both these segments."
The proven Agama DTV Monitoring Solution can be efficiently tailored for fully concurrent and real-time quality monitoring of adaptive bitrate streaming video services across the end-to-end OTT service distribution. It is ideal for all TV operators moving to multiscreen offerings, allowing OTT services to be monitored together with for instance traditional IPTV and cable TV - all in a single system. Visitors to Agama's stand 179 at IP&TV World Forum 2012 in London on March 20-22 can experience live demonstrations of end-to-end TV monitoring set-ups for multiplatform and multiscreen environments.
