BEIJING, CHINA: On Jan. 15, 2010, the 12th Board Council Meeting of TD Forum was held in Beijing. Representatives from 12 board members of the Forum, including China Mobile, Datang, Nokia Siemens, Huawei, Motorola, Nortel Networks, ASB, UT Starcom, Interdigital, Qualcomm, TCL and Ericsson attended this meeting (China Unicom and China Telecom weren’t present).
The Presidium Meeting was chaired by Zhou Huan, the Chairman of TD Forum; and the Board Council Meeting was chaired by Li Min, authorized representative of the president on duty, Ericsson.
The Secretary-General of the TD Forum, Dr. Jing Wang reported the achievements in 2009 to the Presidium and the Board Council. The Presidium and Board Council gave positive remarks on the work performance of the TD Forum.
In 2009, the Forum has done a lot of work in supporting the existing commercial TD-SCDMA network, promoting the development of TD-LTE, strengthening the domestic and foreign propaganda, bringing the strength of the whole industry chain together and enhancing the value of TD Forum’s member enterprises.
On the meeting, Presidium and Board Council members discussed and planned the work objectives and strategies of TD Forum in 2010 and agreed that, TD Forum shall continue to play an important role in the government decision-making process; the Forum shall create more opportunities on various levels for government agencies, operators, and member enterprises in the industry and to communicate and interact; the Forum shall take its every effort to promote the development of TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE.
The Board Council emphasized that in 2010 the Forum should continue to strengthen the publicity and promotion of TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE at home and abroad, particularly in overseas, enhance TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE technologies into the international market through strengthening cooperation with international organizations.
The Board Council hoped that TD Forum could track and study the integration of TD technology and The Internet of Things, concern the contents and applications with TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE characteristics, provide the authoritative and timely industry information and government-related feedback to member enterprises, strengthen the Forum's website promotional features, and serve China Mobile and member enterprises the valuable services.
Due to the restructuring of business, in 2009 Nortel Networks and UT Starcom applied for resigning from their positions in Board Council and withdrawing from TD Forum. On such ground, the Board Council agreed to their applications and expressed the deeply respect and appreciation for Nortel Networks and UT Starcom.
