FT. MYERS, USA: SoftServe, Inc., a provider of software consulting, development, testing and lifecycle services to IT decision-makers, announced that the leading independent software vendors (ISVs) recently predicted agile development and mobile data as the trends that will have the most impact on their businesses in the coming year.
Attendees at the SoftServe Innovations Conference, which was held on Nov. 11-13, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs, Fla, were polled on their predictions for the top software development trends in 2010.
Among the experts surveyed on 2010 predictions, Beth Weeks, vice president of engineering for Zilliant, a price optimization solutions company, and Paul Hodgetts, founder and CEO for Agile Logic, a software development consulting firm, shared their insights into agile development trends and its importance for the upcoming year.
Johna Till Johnson, president and senior founding partner for Nemertes Research, highlighted findings of Nemertes’ recent benchmark on mobility in the enterprise.
“According to Nemertes’ benchmark participants, median mobility spend is up 16 percent in 2009,” said Johnson. “In a year when the average IT budget is down 22 percent, mobility remains essential to enterprises.”
SoftServe Innovations attendees included many of the best-known ISVs, as well as industry leaders from the world of software development. Bob Evans, editor-in-chief, InformationWeek, and Jeffrey Hammond, principal analyst, Forrester Research, provided the keynote addresses.
In addition to mobile data and agile development, topics highlighted at the conference included software-as-a-service, security, cloud computing and social technologies. These trends were discussed in both speaker presentations and roundtable discussions, giving attendees the opportunity to share best practices and predict new developments in the coming year.
“SoftServe is committed to providing its US customers with unmatched expertise, strategy and tools to keep them competitive in the industries they serve,” said Taras Kytsmey, president, SoftServe. “Hosting a user conference with luminaries as keynote speakers and presentations showcasing the latest technological innovations provides our customers with the industry best practices they need to make their customers and businesses successful.”
