OMA to deliver unique mobile future concepts

SPAIN: Industry leading vendors and operators will come together to demonstrate next generation mobile technologies this week at the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) demonstration day, being held at the world’s largest mobile industry event, Mobile World Congress on Wednesday February 27, 2013.

With presentations and demonstrations from OMA members and global industry leaders including: Huawei, Telecom Italia, Interop Technologies, Comverse, CSR, Sensinode, Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems (FOKUS), Gemalto, Red Bend Software and Invisitrack, attendees will gain an exclusive preview into up and coming technologies across the entire wireless value chain, some of which are not yet commercially available.

Hot topics such as M2M, Mobile Federated Social Networks, Rich Communications Services (RCS), Small Cell Networks, Future Internet, Augmented Reality, Mobile Advertising and Location-based Services (LBS) are all included in the agenda.

Regarding M2M, Telecom Italia will be able to show one of the first solutions for Smart Home integration into M2M Mobile Operators’ Networks, leveraging an OMA-DM M2M Gateway. “Device Management Standard infrastructures can help Operators to build stronger value propositions for the M2M business case,” says Ferruccio Antonelli, Head of Wireless Devices and Device Management at Telecom Italia. “With DM Standard infrastructures it's possible to go beyond M2M fragmented niche markets, building more profitable solutions.”

“We are excited to demonstrate how OMA Enablers are driving developments in the mobile industry and how this is enabling the next generation of technology at one of the world’s leading mobile events,” added Seth Newberry, GM of the Open Mobile Alliance. “We are proud to be working with some of the world’s leading vendors and operators participating in this event who are already using OMA Enablers across the industry to deploy a range of mobile applications.”
