Chelsio maintains market share leadership position in 10Gb Ethernet adapters

SUNNYVALE, USA: Chelsio Communications, a leading provider of 10Gb Ethernet unified wire adapters, ASICs and unified storage solutions, has retained one of the leadership positions in the standalone 10Gb Ethernet adapter market, according to the most recent market share report published by Crehan Research.

While Chelsio is second only to Intel's high volume adapters in overall revenue share, it is a leader in Unified Wire adapters, which includes full offload of numerous protocols at no additional cost. Offering a much better value than 'dumb NICs' from other vendors, Unified Wire adapters fully support TCP, UDP, iSCSI, FCoE and iWARP offload.

Chelsio adapters also support SR-IOV, VEPA/VEB, VNTag, DCB, traffic management and filtering. In addition the adapters also feature WireDirect software modules to enable ultra-low latency user mode operation. Chelsio's Unified Wire adapters are widely deployed into virtualized enterprise data centers, cloud service installations and cluster computing environments.

"The Standalone Adapter Card segment is the largest revenue contributor in the fast growing 10Gb Ethernet I/O market, and I expect that this will continue to be the case going forward," said Seamus Crehan, president of Crehan Research. "Within this segment there is, and should continue to be, vigorous demand for products that can address the challenges of impending convergence by handling numerous protocols, in addition to offering extra features that optimize performance in next generation datacenters."
