OSAKA, JAPAN: Panasonic Corp. has published the details of its 60 GHz multi-gigabit wireless circuit technology on its website, aiming to accelerate the implementation of the "New Network Lifestyle" the company proposes.
Panasonic's ultra-high-speed wireless communication technology is based on WiGig and other network standards. Positioning it as a Smart Information Communication Technology (ICT), the company has been promoting its development and integration into network, communication and other electronic devices.
Panasonic hopes releasing the details of the technology and showing practical examples of the New Network Lifestyle to be enabled by the technology will expedite the progress towards achieving a convenient and comfortable future lifestyle.
Now the world is moving into an era where almost all information can be digitized and accessed via networks such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook at home and outdoors, regardless of the platform. Along with the rise of a new generation of digital natives, the distribution of such rich expressive content will continue to grow, leading to a world in which data intensive content is exchanged on a daily basis anywhere.
The Smart ICT enables multi-gigabit wireless communication more than 20 times faster than conventional wireless LANs using the 60GHz frequency band, and through the optimization of both the transceiver core and peripheral circuits, it will also enable lower than 1W low-power, multi-gigabit wireless communication in the future.
As a result, this technology allows the transfer of a 30-minute long compressed high definition video content within just 10 seconds.
The low power feature makes the technology suitable for compact mobile devices such as smartphones, which will let users of such devices easily get a glimpse of the New Network Lifestyle the ultra-high-speed wireless communication will bring about.
