LS Cable & System inaugurates one of India’s largest power cable manufacturing plants at Bawal

NEW DELHI, INDIA: LS Cable and System India (LSCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of $7.67 billion LS Cable & System (LSC&S), a global leader in cable and system solutions, announced the completion of one of India’s largest power cable manufacturing plants at Bawal in Haryana.

The state-of-the-art plant spread over 215,000sft., built with an investment of Rs. 180 crores, will have the capacity to produce Rs. 1000 crores worth of power cables up to 220kV and Optic Ground Wire, and Rs. 500 crores worth of communication cables.

The glittering inauguration ceremony had over 150 special invitees in attendance including His excellency Pt. Shiv Charan Lal Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Haryana; His Excellency Joong-Keun Kim, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India; Rajeev Arora, MD, HSIIDC; C.G. Rajnikanthan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Rewari District and Vikash Arora, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Rewari District among others. Senior group executive Jong-ho Son, president and CEO, LSC&S from Korea specially flew in and was present on the momentous occasion.

According to Jong-ho Son, president, LSC&S: “India is among the top five energy consuming nations in the world accounting for 3.7 percent of the world’s entire energy consumption. And the country is investing heavily in energy projects across states. That makes it a key strategic market of focus for LSC&S which is known for its offering in this vertical globally.

“LS Cable and System is committed to the Indian market for long-term and this significant investment only reinforces that commitment. We are looking to grow rapidly in India and attain market leadership position in the key power and communication markets in the near to medium term. We will contribute to the growth of power and communication infrastructure sectors in India by doing projects with the best technology and leveraging years of experience in the cable business.”

Euy-don Park, MD, LSCI, the Indian subsidiary of LSC&S, says, “We supply extra high voltage cable, OPGW, for power cable solutions and provide broadband wire and wireless communication equipment such as BTS antenna for mobile network and G-PON, E-PON for FTTH solution, to the fast growing Indian communication market.”
