OMVS targets world’s largest mobile market as China passes US in units shipped

TAMPA, USA: On the Move Systems Corp. (OMVS) will target the booming mobile market in China with its app-based television programming currently in development. Last month, the emerging Asian superpower passed the US in unit shipments during the third quarter of 2011.

“China has become the world’s top market for mobile content distribution, and it’s only getting warmed up,” said OMVS CEO Patrick Brown. “The number of mobile users in China is growing rapidly with nearly unlimited potential. OMVS is dedicated to providing users there and around the world with cutting-edge programming tailored to their interests.”

Last week, OMVS formed a new division, On the Move Systems Media, to focus on convergent media applications such as direct-to-mobile video programming. By utilizing mobile applications to broadcast original programming on wireless devices, On the Move Systems Media plans to provide content to a massive global market of smartphone and tablet users.

“Our multi-platform programming will enable our customers to keep connected to the programming they love, whenever and wherever they want,” Brown said. “We plan to announce a new slate of original programming soon set to debut over the most popular mobile platforms. These “appisodes” will capitalize on convergent media trends to combine the mass appeal of reality television with the on-demand convenience of mobile technology to serve a rapidly expanding global audience.

“We’ll be taking the content to our customers wherever they are instead of waiting for them to come home and watch,” he added.
