NEC and Varaha Systems ally to deliver mobile unified communications

IRVING, USA: NEC Corp. of America (NEC) and technology solutions and Varaha Systems Inc. (Varaha), a leading provider of Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC) solutions have announced an agreement to deliver mobile unified communications (UC).

Under the agreement, NEC customers leveraging the UNIVERGE SV8000 Series Communications Servers can extend desktop UC functionality and true single-number reach over both cellular and Wi-Fi networks to mobile smart phones using mobile client software from Varaha.

In addition, Varaha becomes the latest member of the UNIVERGE Solutions Partner Program, NEC’s worldwide program that gives technology providers the opportunity to fully integrate their solutions with NEC’s UNIVERGE portfolio.

“Varaha’s uMobility solution is about taking the features and functions of the business communications network and bringing those capabilities to the user’s mobile phone,” said Prasad Govindarajan, CTO of Varaha. “What this does is bring the smart phone squarely into the 4-digit dialing community of the enterprise. By introducing uMobility into the NEC UNIVERGE portfolio, end users get the entire desk phone feature package delivered to their mobile smart phone.”

“NEC customers continue to see the value of extending unified communications to the mobile device,” said Jay Krauser, general manager, sales support and engineering, NEC. “The freedom of total mobility can increase productivity with greater first call completion and saves costs by leveraging existing Wi-Fi networks as a starter. With uMobility, we continue the vision of putting people at the center of business communications, true to our UNIVERGE360 go-to-market strategy.”
