Mobile World Congress 2010; TOKYO, JAPAN & LONDON, UK: NEC Corp. (NEC) and PacketVideo (PV) will partner to demonstrate new rich mobile applications for NEC’s femtocell solutions, including its Home Gateway service, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2010.
NEC has incorporated PV’s MediaFusion content management and delivery platform and TwonkyMedia connected home application into its femtocell solutions, enabling mobile operators to offer consumers indoor, high-speed access to their favourite media services.
“Femtocell offers new revenue streams for mobile operators which strengthens the business case for mobile operator’s to offer the high-performance indoor coverage that femtocell brings,” said Anil Kohli, General Manager, Indoor Solutions Division, NEC. “With PacketVideo we are demonstrating how femtocell’s enhanced levels of connectivity can give users greater access and control over their media experience.”
TwonkyMedia is a family of applications that link networked home and mobile devices and popular home entertainment services, such as the TV and PC, to enable seamless media sharing through standards such as the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), an interoperable platform for electronic devices. MediaFusion is a navigation portal for mobile devices that enables easy access to multiple applications and services, such as music downloads, ringtones, games and videos using a single, holistic application.
