Communology’s carrier-grade apps for visual voicemail, IM and mobile social networking

COLOGNE, GERMANY: Communology, a Cologne, Germany-based software house specializing in mobile applications, is showcasing sophisticated solutions for personal mobile communications at the Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona (Hall 2, Stand 2B68).

Communology’s successful LiveMedia portfolio includes visual voicemail, mobile instant messaging and social networking applications for common platforms like Android, Java ME, Symbian and Windows Mobile. The LiveMedia clients are carrier grade apps – mobile software meeting the high standards that mobile carriers require in terms of quality and integrability with backend systems like IM gateways or voicemail servers.

Communology offers ready-made white-label client software for the various platforms that can simply be branded to customers’ requirements and ported to specific models of mobile devices. Communology also conducts the requisite software tests. Customers get everything from a single source, which reduces time-to-market and ensures high quality standards.

The LiveMedia approach to application development has already proven its worth for leading industry players such as Sony Ericsson, Nokia, T-Mobile and Vodafone. Communology’s LiveMedia products also offer the means to incorporate advertising in various formats. They support update and version management, and can be delivered to users either as preinstalled software or as over-the-air (OTA) downloads.

At Mobile World, Communology will be showing the following:
LiveMedia Visual Voicemail: The visual voicemail (VVM) clients offer users a smart interface that revolutionizes how they access voicemail. Communology ensures interoperability with the diverse voicemail servers used by carriers. The existing range of mobile platforms supported by VVM clients has been extended to include Android.

LiveMedia C³ Cubical: The unified personal mobile communication clients combine voice, SMS, MMS, e-mail, visual voicemail, instant messaging and social networking capabilities in a single application. Through an easy-to-use interface on the home screen and direct access to the mobile phone book, C³ Cubical makes it significantly easier for mobile customers to use the numerous different communication channels. Hitherto confined to smart phones, these capabilities are now available on mass market devices thanks to this complex but user-friendly application from Communology.

LiveMedia Instant Messaging: These easy-to-use mobile IM clients for a various networks, including icq, msn and Yahoo, support major vendors’ IM gateways. At Mobile World, Communology will be showing IM clients for Android for the first time.

LiveMedia Mash-up: Social networking clients enable mobile login and status updates in networks like Facebook, MySpace, etc. By integrating device capabilities like the address book, GPS and camera, LiveMedia Mash-up applications allow users to contact each other over several channels, upload photos and videos from their mobile devices to platforms like Flickr or YouTube, or use location-based services such as geotagging and buddy tracking.

Communology is also showing LiveMedia solutions for mobile multimedia applications like TV/video and mobile marketing, as well as its Mobile Test Edition (MTE) portfolio. MTE is a collection of test modules, certified by GSMNA and other organizations, for testing and assuring the quality of mobile phone software on Android, Symbian OS 9, Windows Mobile and Java ME. In addition, Communology will be presenting the new MIDP 3.0 upgrade for its Java ME MTE module at Mobile World.
