IPTV to reach 104,000 subscribers in Ukraine by 2016

CAMBRIDGE, USA: IPTV in the Ukraine is expected to provide an eye-catching CAGR of 42 percent between 2011-2016, reaching 104,000 subscribers, or 2 percent of all pay-TV subscribers, according to a new report from Pyramid Research.

Ukraine: Sale of Mobile Operator and Spread of Multiplay Drive a Booming Market offers a precise profile of the country's telecommunications, media and technology sectors based on proprietary data from Pyramid's research in the market. It provides detailed competitive analysis of both the fixed and mobile sectors, tracks the market shares of technologies and monitors the introduction and spread of new technologies.

Pyramid Research's projections are driven by the assumption that NKRZ will finally grant the long-awaited IPTV licenses in the latter part of 2011. "This will enable a number of fixed operators to enter the multiplay zone and offer true multiplay services," says Pyramid Research analyst, Sylwia Boguszewska. "Pyramid expects increased M&A activity in the cable segment, with this technology dominating the pay-TV market throughout the forecast period," she adds.
