BRACKNELL, UK: ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic technologies and services, today announced a new release of its ABBYY Mobile OCR Engine, a software development kit (SDK) for creating optical character recognition (OCR) applications with a small memory footprint.
In addition to its powerful text recognition capabilities, the SDK now offers a compact code barcode recognition technology that can “read” a broad range of popular 1D and 2D barcode types. Integrated into mobile devices, this technology allows users to extract barcodes from various documents, books, delivery notes, labels, warehouse schedules, etc. by photographing and processing them while on the go. This latest version of ABBYY Mobile OCR Engine accurately detects hyphenation in the captured text for even more accurate results.
With this update to ABBYY’s Mobile OCR Engine, performance of the company’s Business Card Reading (BCR) technology is also enhanced to increase language processing speed by up to 68 percent. Language support is also extended to the Polish and Estonian languages.
