DUEBENDORF-ZURICH, SWITZERLAND: Myriad Group AG, a global leader in mobile technology having shipped over 3.8 billion software applications on more than 2.2 billion phones, welcomed the latest results by leading global analyst firm, VisionMobile.
The 100 Million Club, VisionMobile’s embedded mobile software watchlist, cites Myriad’s continued dominance and growth in mobile mass-market software categories: mobile application environments, mobile browser and mobile middleware.
Myriad was the only company to lead more than one category in VisionMobile’s current report and was ranked in the following three categories:
Browser Category – Myriad Browser has been shipped in over 2.2 billion handsets, and has now shipped more than twice the units of the 2nd placed company in the browser category.
Middleware Category – Myriad leads the Messaging Client software category with shipments nearing 1.2 billion handsets to date.
Application Environment Category – Myriad’s Jbed Java ME, embedded in nearly 450 million handsets, maintained its rank as one of only two companies included in this category.
“Our latest research findings show that despite the apparent opportunity in the one-billion-a-year handset market, very few software companies, such as Myriad Group, have managed to overcome the commercial and technical challenges that exist in the mobile industry and achieve a high level of penetration in the handset market,” stated Andreas Constantinou, research director, VisionMobile.
Myriad retains its legacy in the bi-annual VisionMobile report, as the only company to be featured in three of the six report categories. Myriad is also one of only seven companies to have shipped over 1 billion units, and is the only company to have two of these 1 billion plus, best-selling products in their portfolio.
“We are pleased to note VisionMobile’s most recent report, demonstrating Myriad’s continued growth and leadership in multiple areas of the mobile software space. As we progress further into 2011, we anticipate further advances in the browser, messaging and Java categories as well as Myriad’s expansion into new areas of the mobile industry such as mobile social networking,” added Simon Wilkinson, CEO of Myriad Group.
