TATA DOCOMO, Microsoft India to offer Windows phones in India

BANGALORE, INDIA: TATA DOCOMO, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Ltd, and Microsoft India have entered into a long-term, strategic partnership to provide Next Generation telecom products and services to Indian consumers.

In the immediate term, the partnership will involve the promotion of new Windows Phones—Acer Be Touch E101 and Acer Neo Touch S200, powered by Windows Mobile 6.5.

The new Windows Phones deliver a completely new customer experience through an improved, easy-to-use and customizable user interface and an enhanced browsing experience.

Further, Windows Phones come with two new services, to bring added value to consumers—My Phone is an in-built, free service that offers 200MB of online storage to back up all contacts and phone information, while Windows Marketplace for Mobile offers consumers an easy way to find and purchase high-quality mobile applications.

With a similar user interface as a PC or a laptop, a Windows phone helps consumers transit between home, work and play seamlessly and lets them do more on the go.

Under an exclusive tieup, TATA DOCOMO and Microsoft are launching the Windows Phones featuring Windows Mobile 6.5 in all the Circles where TATA DOCOMO has kicked off its GSM services, with an attractive consumer offer of 500 MB of free downloads per month, for a period of six months.

My Phone is a free service that helps people manage and protect the invaluable information stored on their phone, providing peace of mind and an easy restore option if the device is lost or damaged.

Windows Marketplace for Mobile offers people an easy way to find and download for free or purchase high-quality, Microsoft certified mobile applications for both work and play. The new Windows phones also come with a completely redesigned Windows Internet Explorer Mobile browser with built-in Adobe Flash lite that brings the mobile Web browsing experience on par with the PC.
