Industry veterans join hands with CMAI

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Industry veterans have extended their support by joining as chairpersons of committees of Communication Media and IT Association of India (CMAI), the only integrated association in India for IT and Telecom as chairpersons.

Pramod Saxena, (Chairman Oxygen, Ex CEO of Motorola India and Essar Telecom) has being appointed as Chairperson of Mobile Commerce Committee. Arun Seth (Chairman BT India), has been appointed as the chairperson of Alternative energy. Umang Das (President Quippo, Ex. CEO, Spice Telecom), as Chairperson of Committee on Telecom Infrastructure, and Amitabh Singhal will extend his support as Chairperson for Regulatory Affairs.

Welcoming the appointments, Ravi Sharma, Executive Chairman, CMAI Association of India said: “We are proud to have such distinguished personalities in our board. This is a testimony of the support, we have been getting from the industry as we take on issues pertaining to consumer interest, as its utmost priority. This collaboration will further reinforce our efforts to further the interest of the industry and consumers”.

Pramod Saxena has over 30 years of experience in setting up of projects, managing business operations, business development, joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions for diverse industries like Chemicals & Fertilizers, Cement, Power, Iron & Steel, Textiles, Telecommunications (as a service provider, vendor and distribution/service fulfillment).

Arun Seth has over 24 years of experience. Prior to joining British Telecom o worked as Vice president UB Group. Mr. Seth did his post graduation in management from Indian Institute of Management Kolkata and Graduation in Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Umang Das has over 35 years of experience, during which he has spent the last 16 years fully associated with the growth of the Indian telecom Industry. Prior to joining Quippo Telecom, Das spearheaded Spice Telecom in India.

Amitabh Singhal, was a Founder and former President of Internet Service Providers Association of India. Apart from having helped write the original ISP policy for India, various other policy and regulatory achievements including, removal on Internet Telephony restriction, opening of International Gateways to private sector participation, access to and affordability of bandwidth etc. were initiated by him.

He is also associated with two premier, Law Firms in UK and in the US, supporting M & A activities and providing policy and regulatory guidance to the latter's Wire line Wireless and Value Added Service Provider clients. He has a Bachelor’s Degree and a Post Graduate in Marketing Management along with Certificates in Sales and Quality Management. He also holds a Certification in Corporate Directorship.
