Scintera engages with Freescale for low power small cell RF technology

USA: Scintera Networks Inc. has engaged with Freescale Semiconductor, a leading provider of RF power solutions for wireless communications, to enable low power and cost-efficient solutions for the small cell base station market.

As part of the engagement, Freescale will design and optimize new small cell RF power amplifier devices and evaluation boards for operation with Scintera's RFPAL products. The engagement provides Freescale and their customers with preferred access to Scintera's RFPAL products.

As small cell deployments rise worldwide to help support exponential increases in worldwide IP traffic, system power requirements have grown dramatically stringent.

Scintera's innovative RFPAL technology handles pre-distortion tasks with an analog solution, which consumes substantially less power than digital pre-distortion solutions. Due to the higher power efficiency, RFPAL enables small cell wireless infrastructure equipment to operate within extremely aggressive power envelopes, ultimately allowing networking equipment to operate at a fraction of the power of current generation systems.
